Work-it Girl! Sieg Heil, Cover Girl!
So what’s trendy these days? If we’re talking clothing, then I’m out of the loop because I’ve come to that point in my life where if I go shopping for clothes, I buy whatever is on the mannequin, no questions asked. Oh, I do know that shorts are getting so damn long they may as well be pants. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to return to the “Booty Shorts” days, but half way down the calf is a bit much.
Beyond the long shorts craze, it’s become equally fashionable to openly and publicly hate groups of people again, yippee! To Hell with political correctness! The main targets are now gays & Muslims. Bashing followers of Islam and Judy Garland is in fashion and the haters are hitting the bigotry runway en masse.
I’ll admit that hating homosexuals really never went out of fashion. Nonetheless, the fervor with which folks are taking on gays is somewhat retro in style. It’s as if the bigots of America went to the Prejudice Consignment Shop, walked up to the counter and asked the clerk, “Do you have anything in a pre-Civil Rights Act of 1964?” To which the clerk replies “Why yes we do, in fact I have one in ‘Good Ole Boy’ Beer Fueled Ignorance and another that comes in ‘Baptist Sanctified Intolerance’.” It would appear that the ‘Baptist Sanctified Intolerance’ model is flying off the shelves at the moment and just in time for the Presidential Elections. This Fall, the Democrats will be competing against Republicans AND gay marriage referendums, again! We’ve got Karl Rove to thank for this and despite of what I personally think of Turdblossom, he and the GOP really know how to rile up the Evangelicals. This year, the GOP are trying to incentivize the Evangelicals with “Marital Protection” Amendments up for a vote in key states like California, Florida, and Arizona. There will be more to come you can bet on it. Afterall, it was the fear and hate of Gay Marriage that carried Bush/Cheney back into the White House, giving us 4 more years of peace, tranquility, and unsurpassed economic growth. Of course, that’s true if you’re an oil speculator or own stock in Halliburton.
In otherwords, the GOP counts on Gay-Hating Evangelicals to cut off their Queer Noses to spite their own face of self-interest. In fact, I’d go as far to say that the Gay Marriage has surpassed abortion as the hottest topic for Evangelicals. I wonder if Evangelicals would support Gay Abortion?
Other “Christian” issues that have been left in the dust by Gay Marriage would include, school prayer, school vouchers, mandatory chastity belts, death penalty for pornographers (politipornographers excepted), and of course, getting Ronald Reagan a coin. Perhaps even taking Barbara Bush off of the quarter. I’m so amazed that Bush et. al. have been able to manipulate these folks into putting all of their queer eggs into one political basket. Ah, but so goes the fashion of hate.
As for the Hate of Muslims, one need not travel to some far flung bigot’s boutique. Nope hating Muslims is the racism du jour and it’s offered up everywhere one looks. Tomorrow we’ll examine that one. Don’t forget to get your hajib out of the cleaners.
MANDATORY CHASTITY BELTS?! In what century???
OK, this is so hysterical!! I laughed so hard! Kudos to you who writes this article.
I am gonna have to link to you… because well you are so right on. I think Im going to need to share this one with my readers –
I have my burka all ready for tomorrow… shall I sit with a lit candle in vigil? I await tomorrow with baited breath!
Hm.
It’s so easy to hate. So easy. Society today seems to be infatuated with the “easy” everything, so it would only make sense that hatred would become “popular” again.
On a more paranoid/politically philosophical level, uniting mass amounts of people in hatred over other groups is a great way to strengthen one’s power and hold over those large groups.
It happens on very small levels, like cliques in grade school that gang up on the “nerdy” kids in order to make sure the popular ones stay on top. It also happens on much larger levels, illustrated in Hitler’s genius method of uniting the Germans in their hatred for Jews. This strengthened the drive and determination of the country as a whole and set Hitler up as a powerful leader who would rid the world of the Jews and whoever else was causing the Germans trouble.
This goes hand-in-hand with the fear factor. When we’re afraid of something, politicians get us to act. When we fear terrorism, we surrender our privacy rights in order to get those damn Christian killers.
Ah. It’s all so refreshingly 1984, isn’t it?
P.S. The photo you posted gave me chills and made me feel quite sick to my stomach. Good job.

[…] acceptance, and more tolerance. Looking around I find that one hard to believe. Just read Politiporn’s article today and you’ll have a great idea what Im talking […]
Your article is humorous, but completely inaccurate. Both parties (and liberals/conservatives) have a small, but vociferous percentage of hatemongers, while the bases of each are more “reasonable.”
I have been a Baptist for many years and have never heard of “baptist sanctified intolerance.” If loving the sinner and hating the sin is intolerant, then I guess I am. There are biblical arguments against gay marriage, but the Bible certainly does not advocate “intolerance” nor “hate.”
If you want to see hatred in action just look at MoveOn.org and Michael Moore. Their complete disdain for our military is quite evident…please see the General Betrayus ad in the New York Times.
Your attempt to tie gay bashing, Muslim hating and oil profiteering on Republicans is boring. You can come up with better material than that! It’s like a broken record with you liberals regarding those issues. It’s too bad that some people will actually take your article serioiusly.
@The Fallen – thanks for the kudos on the humor, which is the main point of the article and PolitiPorn for that matter.
Please note that I actually coined the term “Baptist Sanctified Intolerance” and now that an actual Baptist has confirmed that’s new, I’ll be filing a trademark application straight away!
As for the entirety of your comment, I’d really get away from using the GOP Boogie-Monster, i.e. MoveOn.Org & M. Moore to prove your points. They’re both pretty old and tired examples. Come on now, we’ve all moved on to Rev. Wright as the boogie-man.
The only way that I tie Republicans to the hate of Muslims and Gays, is to say that they profit from it at the voting booth. You can’t deny that. Bush would have lost in 2004 but for the evangelicals coming out to vote against gay marriage. It’s that plain, it’s that simple.
What I’m facinated with is the Baptist obsession with homosexuals and gay marriage in particular.
Humor is required in discussing politics!
I think the “Baptist Sanctified Intolerance” phrase may be considered “scandalous” and not registrable as a trademark. 🙂
MoveOn.org is an ongoing issue with the liberals, but I see you point as to it being used alot. Michael Moore as well. I think Rev. Wright is old news as well.
My view is that Republican voters (most of them) are much smarter than deciding to vote against gays and Muslims. I am sure that most Democrats are smarter than voting for the Democrat just because they HATE President Bush!
Dear College Boy Lawyer Type;
Since when did having a different view on something become “hate”? Although using that four letter word has gotten Fellows like Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People a long way. I mean without calling racicism or hatred all of these people would be out of a “job”.
So what would you have these Evangelicals do? Opt out of the “system”? You want them to have the right to vote as long as they vote the way you want them to vote? How absurd!
Which class did you take to learn such name calling as “Queer noses”? Quite the education you have there College Boy.
And as for the hatred of Muslims and tha hajib thing. I’m still okay with keeping an eye on all Muslims… especially those who where garments that may hide explosive devices. I can be wrong ninety-nine times but on the one-hundreth time…. what if it were your wife/child?
M54 in the view of a liberal, haven’t you learned that disagreeing with a liberal is called “hate” and disagreeing with a conservative is called “freedom of speech”???
Coming out to vote against gay marriage does not automatically make someone a homophobe. I do not support gay marriage, but also do not feel that we need an amendment to the Constitution to define marriage.
I think Politipornster’s descriptors are colorful and usually hilarious and do not take them as offensive.
@The Fallen – “As an initial matter,” 😉 ….your grasp of Trademark Law identifies you my friend. Actually, you walked right into my little trap – Welcome to my web said the spider to the fly! I agree with you that MOST GOP voters have better issues to vote for than Gay Marriage. However, there is a sizeable portion of the GOP electorate that had never voted in an election until the Gay Marriage thing was made an issue. Further, most are ill informed on that very issue. If you talk to them you’ll find that they actually believe that a court will come down and make their churches offer marriage ceremonies to gays. (couldn’t happen by the way).
@M54 – nice to see you back here and you know you’re always welcome to post. I actually enjoy our little debates on here. Let me address some of the points you raise:
I couldn’t agree with you more about Sharpton, Jackson and to some degree the NAACP. I don’t think we’ll ever see these guys stand up and say “Well, racism is dead…I’m out of here.” I don’t think that you can lump Sharpton & Jackson, et. al. in the with the NAACP in the same group. The NAACP actually does some good work for the African American community and their national leadership is much more toned down and responsible than Sharpton/Jackson/ or even some of their local leaders.
Sharpton & Jackson on the otherhand have merely become characatures of themselves and I’d imagine that opinion is held by many in the black community as well.
OK, I admit that I engage in a little name-calling from time to time. Nonetheless, your allegation that the piece where I wrote “gay noses” is not really name-calling and you miss the point. You need to read it again my friend, it’s akin to a metaphor not name-calling.
I would never ask Evangelicals to stay home nor would I want them to vote the way I instructed them to. Quite the contrary, I would merely ask that EVERYONE vote responsibly and inform themselves on the issues that matter to them. Part of that responsibility should be referring to sources other than one’s pastor, FOX News, MSNBC, Media Matters, Flush Windbag, Sean Vanity or the Falafel King.
One last observation – if you’re that afraid of your fellow citizens that happen to be Muslim, why bring back WWII style internment camps? We could eliminate all these folks from society just as we did the Japanese on the West Coast. You’d feel safer 100 times out of 100.
I knew you were fishing when you brought up the trademark issue and decided to bite. 🙂 I thought that you need another conservative’s input on your blog.
I agree that it is a pervasive fear among Evangelicals that the state will interfere with their religious doctrine, but I personally do not see that happening, hence there is no need for an amendment to the Constitution.
College Boy Lawyer Type; Nice to be seen!
Regardidng the NAACP…. “some good”? Isn’t that lawyer speak for “I can’t really put my finger on it, but these guys have been around for so long they must have some value?” The NAACP does so much harm (like the “Jena 6” last year, etc.) not acknowledging the number one cause of death for young black men, that young black women have the highest cases of HIV in the US, the break down of he black family and on and on and on. Their hatred of everyone “not black” seems (to me) to be greater than the love they actually profess to have for their own community…especially the most vulnerable ones, their young children (who, for the most part, seem to be stuck in a cycle of “somebody owes me”). How sad.
Name calling or metaphor? You say toMAYtoe. I say toemotoe. haha (I concede that one out right)
You say that everyone should inform themselves on the issues and vote responsibily. Then you give a list of sources that are (according to you) unapproved sources. Perhaps if you were to provide a list of approved sources that would be more beneficial. For instance, is it okay for me to use my Christian Bible to gleen information as to how I should lead my life, which would include how I am to treat people and what my responsibilities are to my family and community?
Finally, of course, your WWII internment camps response was COMPLETELY EXPECTED. Sucker! I don’t want them locked up but on the other hand you should not expect me to view a muslim I see at the mall the same I do as the caucasian mom/dad. Sorry, just being honest. It’s been just over 16 months since my SIL (Sgt. Buddy James Hughie) was KIA by a Taliban sniper.
