church service since the election.  This news, showing that he goes to

Morals.  Politics.  What can we- or should we- expect from our leaders?  Throughout time immemorial we have seen people rise up to lead the masses- and for just as long, those people have been flawed.  Here in the United States the masses have decreed that the reason government has always been flawed is because we have chosen the wrong kinds of leaders.  The logic goes that we must choose leaders whose homes and personal lives and individual morality is in proper order.  Then, the people say, we will have good governments.

“Hm,” I reply, “it certainly sounds nice- but…  really?”

Nice churchgoing girl of good family and breeding asks:  Why is prostitution illegal but pornography is an industry?

Fresh on the heels of the DC Madame’s suicide I found this question heavy in my mind.  Not simply because had prostitution been legal there would be one more woman alive today, but because prostitution and the production of pornography don’t seem so horribly different in my mind.  In both cases money changes hands over sex acts, right?  So why is it illegal for Senator Vitter to pay a woman to diaper and spank him, but yet it could be legal for said woman to pay him to be diapered and spanked on tape?  Why don’t all of these sex crazed men simply give up their lucrative jobs in politics for equally lucrative but much wetter and wilder jobs in the porn industry?  (No, wait, don’t answer that.  Horrible mental picture.  Bad, bad idea.)
